Acado- Supporting Local Communities Across the Region

Across the region, Acado collectively continued to invest in programmes that focused on people while advancing sustainability, environmental stewardship, education, health and wellness, and youth development. The locally led initiatives outlined below served to strengthen trust with customers, communities and public partners while reinforcing Acado’s mission to create value and enrich lives.

 Acado Barbados

In 2025 Acado Barbados focused its efforts on sustainability, animal welfare, and special-needs education. Team members participated in the Annual Island-Wide Clean-Up—hosted by Green Nation, Clean Up Barbados and the Future Centre Trust—supporting preservation efforts at Bay Street Esplanade and the Cabinet Office environs.

In recognition of National Pet Day in April, the company supported the RSPCA’s Adoption Day with prize baskets and cases of pet-care products from brands such as Temptations, Pedigree and Arm & Hammer.

The Barbados team also made donations including tablets, children’s picnic tables and food products to enhance learning and play to the Albert Cecil Graham Development Centre which focuses on children with developmental differences.

Acado Grenada

Through CK’s Super Valu, the team supported organizations island-wide through product, service and financial donations, including pet food for the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).

Additionally, Diquez personal-care product donations assisted several west-coast day-care centres.

The team also provided multi-faceted support for the New Life Organization. This included financial aid, senior-leadership mentorship and apprenticeships designed to expand access to skills and pathways to work for adolescents and young adults.

Acado Guyana

By connecting classroom learning with sustainability and nutrition themes, Acado Guyana built relevance with students and educators while engaging families around health and food systems.
As official distributor for Swiss, the company launched “Unboxing the Future”, a sustainability-themed pilot across six Georgetown high schools.  Through the initiative over 200 students were provided with supplies for their Food & Nutrition classes while raising awareness for the new Swiss line of boxed peas, beans and vegetables.

Acado St. Lucia

Over the past year, the Pharmaceuticals Department supported twelve families, by providing hampers to mothers welcoming babies born during the holiday season. Additionally, a public Health Fair at Derek Walcott Square provided free health screenings to members of the public. Tests provided included blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI and other relevant lifestyle related health screenings.

With Seven Seas and the St. Lucia Fire Service, the Rainforest Fun walk promoted fitness while product samples were provided to attendees.

A $30,000 XCD donation was also made to outfit all U-12 Primary School Football League teams and provide prizes for the finals.

In partnership with Friesland, Acado St. Lucia also donated 60 market umbrellas for Castries vendors and 15 for Vieux-Fort, improving conditions for micro-entrepreneurs.

In June, as part of World Milk Month celebrations, support was provided to ten schools through the Dutch Lady brand. This included donations of evaporated and instant milk, and a Fun Day with breakfast boxes for eight schools. Employees also helped pack over a 1,000 gift bags for holiday distribution.

Acado SVG (St. Vincent & the Grenadines)
With telecom partner FLOW, Acado SVG distributed Lamar Juice at the annual Back-to-School Fair, supporting a positive start to the academic year.

Acado Trinidad & Tobago ( Distribution and Foods)

Environmental stewardship & circularity
Acado Distribution, in partnership with the Palmiste Park Historical Society and the Chaguaramas Development Authority, worked to install four Double Duty branded bins at Palmiste Park and the Chaguaramas Boardwalk respectively. These bins will encourage proper waste disposal and recycling at these sites.

Support of Local Communities

The Employee Engagement Committee (EEC) at Acado Foods completed several initiatives in support of local communities focusing on the environment, education and wellness.

Starting in March, under the theme of sustainability, thirty-three employees across the company’s three locations were mobilized for a clean-up initiative at Saline Beach. The team managed to remove 853 lbs. of garbage from the Toco shores, which was later taken to a recycling facility.

Additionally in May,  in a #RethinkPlastics initiative, installed eight upcycled benches at St George’s College San Juan and Success Laventille Secondary School. The material used to fabricate the benches were sourced primarily from plastic waste that was diverted from local landfills through the #Rethink Plastics campaign. Acado’s continued commitment to this initiative will see 2 benches installed per month over a year’s time.

 Celebrating Education
With a drive to nurture the educational development of young people the company partnered   with the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine), Division of Student Services and Development to institute scholarships. Two Acado Foods Engineering Bursaries have now been made available to final-year students in the industrial, mechanical and electrical engineering fields for the 2025/2026 academic period.

At the local level, the team embarked on an SEA outreach activity at two local schools: El Socorro South Government Primary School and St Anthony’s (Petit Valley) Girls R.C. School. Together with the Swiss and Super Cow brand mascots, Alex and Cleo, twenty-five students at each school enjoyed a morning of games, prizes and encouraging words before sitting the national exam the following week on April 10.

Closer to home, in July, the company held a reception for approximately twenty children of staff who sat the 2025 SEA examination, in recognition of their hard work and perseverance. To extend the company’s support for these students, individual coaching sessions were also arranged with a seasoned Child Development & Education Specialist.

People-Centred
Focusing on the “People” at the heart of the company’s operations and values, April and May included celebrations of staff well-being through Health and Safety Month and Mental Health Awareness activities. In collaboration with local health authorities, screenings and counselling services were made available across the company, along with opportunities to practice wellness with a Free Book Day, Latin Dance Class, Hug a Dog Day in partnership with TTSPCA, and a 5K Walk/Run. Staff were also encouraged to nurture their financial wellness, with a Personal Taxes and Financial Planning Workshop in August, which saw sixty-four employees register and attend.
